Position Description:
The Body Test Operations (BTO) team plan and manage the physical prototype test properties for Body Engineering and Vehicle Safety teams. These properties support the development of new models and anything required for current production models. A typical test properties consists of a bare body shell that is fitted with only the necessary parts, and a number of supporting 'kits' of parts. As a Programme Test Support Engineer you will be supporting the programme lead(s) and will be instrumental in the delivery of around £5m worth of prototype materials that are critical to the delivery of the new line-up of electric vehicles that will pave our client's future. In this cross functional role typical tasks may include (but are not limited to):
- CAD build and validation of parts fitment plan for each test property and kit
- liaising with engineers to confirm body rigs plan is appropriate
- liaising with engineers to understand the suitability of prototype parts and mapping the 'dependencies' for each property to better understand and optimise the property build timing
- investigating parts status per each Bill of Material (BoM) and that they have appropriate order coverage
- supporting prototype build as required
- initial planning activities for the next testing phase as directed by the programme lead
- at the end of each testing phase ensuring all remaining physicals are cleared / disposed of
Skills Required:
- Robust and demonstrable Excel skills
- Understanding and use of 3d CAD & Parts Bills Of Materials (BoM)
- Willingness and ability to learn new systems, skills and concepts quickly and be able to think laterally. Robust communications skills to work with cross functional teams.
Experience Required:
- An Automotive engineering background
- Automotive testing experience
- 3d CAD & Parts Bills Of Materials (BoM)
Experience Preferred:
- Experience of automotive subsystem testing for body engineering, automotive or similar industry experience

This role supports the Powertrain Business Operations team.

- Ensuring on time release of SAP shopping cart and Purchasing order (PO) in line with demand.
- Ensure timely confirmation of supplier payment in accordance with SAP spend profile.
- Providing summary reports / presentations to the Business Operations manager.
- Training on all client systems will be provided.

Role context and purpose:
As a Digital Modeller you will be influential in the creative stages of the development of new motorcycles, supporting the Industrial Design team in transferring the design from 2D sketch to digital CAD / CAS. You will quickly create compelling digital models, understanding design requirements and realising them with a high degree of sensitivity to surface, form and finish, and be proficient in outputting these 3D models in NURBS surfaces or Parametric solid models. With a strong 3D digital modelling experience and a solid understanding of automotive engineering/model engineering, you’ll build and develop the digital models required for delivery. Your main goal will be solving specific design problems and working on whole system designs; flair, aesthetic judgement and creativity are therefore essential. The ability to work positively in a team will be the real key to your success.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Studio Design Team to enable the delivery of surfaces representative of the design
intent while integrating engineering constraints
- Work directly with the Physical Modelling and Engineering teams to develop 3D Digital model data
for presentation models and prototypes.
- Generate High Integrity data as necessary – to defined “A” class standard – i.e. suitable for transfer
into other CAD systems (principally Creo)
- Produce parametric models natively in Creo
Experience Required:
At least three years’ experience in automotive OEM or independent studio working with OEM
- Experience in concept modelling and A class modelling (Alias)
- Experience in parametric solid modelling (Creo)
- Proven record of bringing motorcycle, scooter or automotive interior digital models to styling sign-off will be a definite advantage
- Experience in 3D scanning & surfacing of scan data is a plus
- Outputting digital models by rapid prototype output to SLS, SLA, etc. is a plus
- Experience in clay / foam milling a plus
- A passion for motorcycles and familiarity with the motorcycle market
