Job Description:
Vehicle Integration Leader required to drive the development of new and existing vehicle architectures. Responsible for driving and leading the integration of new technologies within that zone into new and existing vehicle architectures. Drive functional and attribute target delivery, acting as the voice of the customer to lead any arbitration required.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable as the leader and technical arbitrator, integrating and delivering the engineering for the whole vehicle whilst ensuring compatibility with GRID, the commodity/system strategies and functional targets
- Lead Group functional integration for given vehicle, to drive out complexity and deliver the most efficient technical solutions
- Work closely with Vehicle Attribute Robustness team to drive delivery of embedded design quality, service and manufacturing requirements
- Drive vehicle technical data progression (CAD, DV, AIMS, Build, Test & Releasing etc..) with groups & interfacing team leads
- Oversee alignment on, and subsequent delivery of, Minimum Viable Product into both virtual and physical verification and validation through life of Programme
- Drive cross group obstacle resolution, ensuring timely escalation to nameplate and / or Architecture VEM as required
- Ensure prompt escalation of technical blockers/incompatibilities to Vehicle/Chapter/Enterprise leadership via the Obstacle process
- Support study & Agile spike activities to solve complex engineering problems

Skills / Experience Required:
- Automotive technical knowledge and extensive experience of complex interactions, including technical analysis and decision-making
- Demonstrated understanding automotive technology with an advanced level of technical depth into vehicle, system and component detailed design, development and delivery, ability to interrogate and ratify incoming technical standards, system and component assumptions.
- Excellent written and verbal technical communication, influencing and negotiation skills
- Experience in leading teams of people to solve complex technical issues using a structured approach e.g 8D and/or Six Sigma
- Project Management experience of delivery against a complex set of Programme technical deliverables

Duties:
The Lead Engineer - Vehicle Efficiency Attribute will take a leading role in:
- Supporting the Efficiency Product Owner in the delivery of key Vehicle Efficiency attributes (e.g.. real world and homologated driving range, energy consumption, fuel economy & CO2 emissions)
- Ensuring that these attribute requirements are compatible with system and sub-systems
- Cascading and arbitrating targets for data-driven, intelligent, optimised energy nodes (e.g. aerodynamics, weight, powertrain efficiency, climate system, HV battery energy) to deliver a modern luxury experience
- Collaborating with a wide range of business stakeholders and Engineers to deliver vehicle programmes against the team’s Quality Operating Schedule (QOS; client framework for attribute delivery).
- Identifying risks and opportunities in a robust data-driven manner with the purpose of informing and influencing business decisions and engineering direction related to vehicle energy nodes.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Vehicle Architecture’s Efficiency Product Owner and working within the JLR Agile operating model, responsibilities will include:
- Conducting strategic target setting for the Vehicle Efficiency attribute (including competitive positioning assessment & benchmarking, assessment of fleet compliance requirements, customer feedback data analysis, real-world customer data analysis, reviews of legislative requirements etc.).
- Coordinating and contributing towards Vehicle Efficiency attribute virtual verifications & data analysis
- Conducting target compatibility assessment and negotiation between the Vehicle Efficiency attribute and vehicle energy node owners
- Collaborating with energy node owners in influencing and defining strategic technology roadmaps compatible with Vehicle Efficiency attribute requirements and customer trends
- Supporting effective Vehicle Efficiency attribute governance throughout vehicle programmes, identifying and making recommendations for how to handle risks and opportunities as they arise
- Ensuring Vehicle Efficiency attribute and energy node assumption data is robustly and efficiently administrated, and made available to business stakeholders
- Collaborating with tools and methods teams to ensure Vehicle Efficiency attribute development requirements are well defined and aligned with programme objectives
- Where programme delivery imperatives allow, contribute and add value to tools and methods development project work
- Undertaking any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

Skills:
Essential:
- Strong technical engineering background with evidence of a methodical, structured approach to problem solving
- Significant previous experience of Vehicle attribute and/or vehicle system delivery
- Detailed knowledge of vehicle efficiency legislative homologation/certification methods, processes and implementation
- Technical understanding of how vehicle energy nodes (road load, propulsion efficiency, electrical loads etc.) affect vehicle-level emissions, consumption and range for both fuel-consuming vehicles, EVs and hybrids
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to use data and visualisations to articulate complex risks, opportunities and recommendations in an easily digestible way

Duties:
Trim and Final Facilities are responsible for the development and introduction of new and modified facilities associated with new model introductions and model year changes. Ensure facility installations are delivered through strict adherence to Product Creation and Delivery System (PCDS) and Launch Quality Operating System (LQOS) Gateways deliverables, Health & Safety and Manufacturing Engineering Facility procurement procedures.

Key Responsibilities
- Project manage the planning and implementation of facility installations for new model introductions.
- Creation of detailed facility timing plans in line with manufacturing launch strategies.
