Development Engineer - Suspension - £27.21/hr (Inside IR35) - Warwickshire (Hybrid potential) - 8 months (potential for yearly renewal)
Duties:
Apply engineering theories and principles to perform complex work in research and development of suspension engineering systems, including the design, characterization, and iterative refinement of suspension devices. Work within an Agile Squad to develop industrialized products.
Responsibilities typically include:
- Deliver the commodity plan to quality, cost and time, including maintaining the Worldwide Engineering Release System
- Deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning deliverables
- Assist in the Management of Change Requests, expenditure forecasting and the relevant supplier teams in support of delivery of the programme milestones
- Work on spring and damper module test plans, including detailed planning of test and development stages through to sign off and support Engineering test teams with rectification of issues
- Assist in the resolution of issues with supplier component engineering and vehicle attribute teams to develop designs that meet targets
- Ensure all appropriate standards are met through-out design maturation
- Meet programme targets for cost and weight
- Legal regulations and Requirements Management & Design Verification documentation
- Keep all Module documentation up to date including meeting records
- Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
Skills:
Essential:
- Previous experience of managing resolution of business, technical and process issues within a Project Team environment
- A good working knowledge of product creation & delivery, change control, product definition and change management processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong influencing and engagement skills
Desirable:
- Previous experience within engineering or programme planning departments
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and understand GD&T notation
- CAD / CAE design and analysis experience preferably with Dassault toolsets
- Some experience of delivering suspension damper, coil spring and air spring technologies
- Experience of working within agile scrum methodology
Education:
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience preferred.

Duties:
This role will aim to enhance the customer experience through the design, development, measurement and balance of customer attributes for automotive vehicles.
The D&R PAT leader role is to ensure all customer expectations for vehicle Durability and Robustness of client vehicles are met or exceeded. This is achieved through attribute target setting and verification sign-off using both virtual and physical test methods.
Key Performance Indicators
- Ensure all targets cascaded and accepted within all relevant Engineering teams
- Develop integration and Design Verification (DV) plans to ensure accumulating evidence through vehicle programme to ensure delivery of vehicle sign-off on-time to requirements
- Ensure delivery and reporting of results of all test activities to agreed DV plan
- Raise clear and concise technical issue reports within 48 hours of identifications
- Complete all sign-off documentation for agreed gateways
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Support delivery of all attribute requirement targets by gateway
- Support the Programme Attribute Team to ensure all technical issues are identified and resolved
- Detailed strategy and delivery planning for all attribute covering CAR, RLD, rig and driven DV activities with status reporting including road load data, analysis and load cascade
- Working with system and component areas to define and maintain cascaded target requirements in support of overall vehicle level targets
- Work with component engineers and suppliers are required to drive implementation and resolution of all engineering solutions
- Deliver technical recommendations and reports
- Support and maintain the Automated Issues Management System (AIMS) and track these to successful resolution
- Work on tasks to ensure all lessons learnt from the current vehicle are captured and fed back to the Programme Attribute Team and progressed as necessary
- Undertake any other work as directed by their Line Manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

- Broad knowledge and demonstrable experience of vehicle technologies within the automotive sector
- Understanding of Durability & Strength principles with a knowledge of automotive data collection and analysis
- Knowledge of problem-solving principles

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Ownership, management, validation and development of a number of vehicle level towing and carrying requirements and targets

- Experience in towing trailers and using trailer towing hardware

- Experience in Features development, delivery and validation
- Experience in vehicle level Towing & Carrying development, testing and validation
- Knowledge/Experience of AGILE working principles
