Position Description:
The Body Test Operations (BTO) team is responsible for planning and managing physical prototype test properties that support the development and approval of body components for automotive programmes. These properties, often referred to as 'rigs', typically consist of a painted body shell equipped only with the parts necessary for a specific test, rather than a fully assembled vehicle. Additionally, there are several 'kits' of loose parts that facilitate the testing process.
As a Programme Lead Engineer, you will oversee the planning and delivery of approximately £5 million worth of these test properties, which are crucial for the launch of an exciting new range of electric vehicles. This cross-functional role involves a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Responsibility for the planning and delivery of the properties required for a new Land Rover product
- Delivery of the prototype phase of properties and test kits
- Consolation of test property requests into a cost and time optimised plan for the next phase of testing
- Virtual builds using CAD visualisations systems
- Integration of any plans into the prototype Bill Of Materials and part procurement systems
- Working in conjunction with engineers, Purchasing, MP&L and suppliers to procure all parts and assemblies
- Integration of the plan and the above into the physical delivery space
- Leading and attending meetings with Programme Team, Test and development teams
- Supporting ongoing testing as required to ensure successful completion
- Programme close out once all properties are delivered and testing has completed successfully
Skills Required:
- Robust and demonstrable Excel Skills with understanding of Bills Of Materials (BoMs) and CAD visualisation
- Automotive Engineering and automotive testing background
- Project Management with Robust Cross-Functional Working within the automotive industry
Experience Required:
- Automotive engineering and test
- Excellent attention to detail and issues follow-up and resolution,
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills
Experience Preferred:
- Experience of automotive subsystem testing for body engineering, automotive or similar industry experience
- Test and Development plan experience
